African Adaptation Knowledge Workshop: Nairobi, Kenia, 5-6 February 2013

The Future Okavango project will be presented at the African Adaptation Knowledge Workshop by Dr. Jörg Helmschrot from the University of Hamburg, Germany. The workshop will take place at the UN Office in Nairobi, Kenya, on 5 - 6 February 2013.

The workshop is organised by the Africa Adaptation Knowledge Network (AAKNet) which is an initiative facilitated by UNEP under the umbrella of the Global Adaptation Network (GAN). AAKNet aims at bringing together policy makers and practitioners through an online portal, face-to-face meetings and publications, to exchange knowledge and experiences in adaptation and to foster collaboration and innovation in Africa.

The aim of this workshop is to provide a platform for facilitating learning from each other’s experiences, and exploring the potential for synergies and concrete collaboration between the various platforms and to initiate sharing and exchanging knowledge for strategic planning and adaptation processes.

The outcome of the workshop is expected to contribute to building an alliance and coordination of knowledge platforms in the continent with the common purpose of supporting climate change response and aggregating knowledge in addressing pertinent climatic risks, shared across region and across countries.
