Workshop: Germany, Braunschweig, 2-3 March 2011

Results of the TFO workshop (SP08/SPC) in Braunschweig 2-3 March 2011

The workshop 'Integration of ecological and socio-economic work in TFO by defining the Ecosystem Function (ESF) - Ecosystem Service (ESS) interface' was held from March 2nd to 3rd, 2011 in the DSMZ in Braunschweig, Germany. The workshop was organized by SP08 the group of the University of Giessen in consultation with SPC and cooperation with the DSMZ. Its aim was to contribute to the building of interdisciplinary collaboration, notably by ensuring that relevant data can be exchanged among SPs. The interdisciplinary work has the aim of enabling SPs to conduct valuation of different types and to compile and compare land use trajectories in the long term. The specific objectives of the meeting were to get to know each other, discuss the meaning of important concepts, start a discussion on collaboration needs and opportunities, as well as get an overview on valuation approaches in TFO and of possibilities for synthesis.
