Workshop: Marburg, Germany, 13 December 2011

Rationale and short overview

During the drafting of a stakeholder integration strategy and a stakeholder analysis the SP10 team became aware that stakeholder integration cannot be achieved on an overall project level but must be adapted to the specific needs of individual research components. The application of the proposed participation framework can create a platform for self-reflection and informed discussions about the rationale of applying participatory methods in a specific research context. Amongst other aspects the framework can identify the strengths, opportunities and limits of research projects with regards to participatory approaches and can help to analyse the evolution of subprojects over time to support the planning of future research phases.

The workshop included a presentation by Prof. Neef, intense discussions about the needs and other aspects of participatory work and a group work phase where participants applied the framework to their own research activities.
